We help to acquire and retain talents in the heart of Europe

We want to stop the outflow of skilled young people from Slovakia, to present them a competitive alternative in a quickly developing area with a great potential, and at the same time, to gain talents from abroad by offering them an attractive top-level scientific workplace and by promoting existing research teams.

We help to understand, exploit and improve artificial intelligence

We strengthen the cooperation, we support the creation and transfer of research knowledge, we stimulate expert discussions with a focus on artificial intelligence with an aim to popularize and develop the field of artificial intelligence, and to interpret the benefits and risks that artificial intelligence entails.

We help to change Slovakia into a digital country

We will bring together experts in the field of artificial intelligence, we will strengthen the research and education, and we will bring effective cooperation at national and international level heading to the excellence of Slovakia in this field. In this way, we will prepare Slovakia for the incoming global trends which bring changes at all-society level.

ABOUT SLOVAK.AI

Slovak Research Center for Artificial Intelligence – slovak.AI was founded in 2019 as a platform for excellence in the field of artificial intelligence and as a platform bringing together students, researchers, entrepreneurs, teachers, investors and all others who are interested in artificial intelligence, professionally and / or who are excited about the amazing potential artificial intelligence brings.

We are a neutral, independent and non-profit platform whose ambition is to develop excellence and to bring together experts and people interested in artificial intelligence.

We try to show that there is a place to grow with artificial intelligence for creative people and companies in Slovakia.

Why?

We believe that artificial intelligence will change our lives in a fundamental way. Artificial intelligence has the potential for innovation that delivers exciting new products and services that will change our economy. It is possible that artificial intelligence will also play an important role in solving major societal challenges such as climate change, safety, health, food security and other resources.

In the future, Slovakia is exposed to a high risk of production automation due to the development of artificial intelligence. Due to the size of our country and to a currently lower number of companies that develop artificial intelligence in Slovakia, it is highly important to work together, to connect individual companies and academic sector and thus achieve a synergic effect. Research in the field of artificial intelligence is expensive, requires computational capacity, data, experts. Along with government support, we can make use of this potential.

There are many talents in Slovakia. We believe that we can build such strong position in Slovakia that young people will be interested in studying in Slovakia, in turning back to Slovakia after studying or working abroad or that people from other countries could come to Slovakia to realize their dreams. We believe that by strengthening universities and linking them with industry, we can bring together values ​​and interesting challenges.

Mária Bieliková

Chairman of the Board of Directors

She is an internationally recognized expert and co-author of several publications in the field of IT and artificial intelligence. She works at the Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava. As a researcher, she focuses on data analysis and prediction, especially in the field of human modelling in digital space interaction and personalization. She is a senior member of IEEE and ACM, and she also works as an expert in the Expert Group on Artificial Intelligence at the European Commission.

Mário Lelovský

Vice – Chairman of the Board of Directors

He is involved in several Slovak and international institutions in the fields of support and development of the IT sector, digital skills, and education and business activities. He is the first vice-president of the IT Association of Slovakia, the Republic Union of Employers, a chairman of the Executive Committee of the Digital Coalition of the Slovak Republic, and he is also a vice- chairman of the Digital Skills Committee at DigitalEurope. In addition, he runs a business in the field of control systems for smart objects.

Gabriel Galgóci

Member of the Board of Directors

He is the President of the American Chamber of Commerce and the Chairman of the Business Service Center Forum, where he supports the improvement of the business environment, the quality of education and cooperation between educational institutions and employers. He has joined his entire professional career with the company AT&T Slovakia, currently works as a Managing Director. He leads several teams which ensure the implementation of complex network solutions for international clients.

He is the President of the American Chamber of Commerce and the Chairman of the Business Service Center Forum, where he supports the improvement of the business environment, the quality of education and cooperation between educational institutions and employers. He leads several teams which ensure the implementation of complex network solutions for international clients.

He works at the Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava, where he lectures a subject on Artificial Intelligence. He leads a research group and seminars focused on artificial neural networks and natural language processing. He is a member of IEEE and ACM.

Before joining slovak.AI, she worked at the Ministry of Finance, where she coordinated the communication of lawyer’s teams, analyzed and prepared documents for the defence of the Slovak Republic dealing with international investment arbitrations. She represented the interests of Slovakia in the OECD Investment Committee in Paris and in the Working Group for the European Stabilization Mechanism in Brussels.

Until 2015, she worked for eight years in poverty reduction project management in Latin America, Brazil in concrete.

He works at the Technical University of Košice, his specialization is artificial intelligence in the cloud environment with an emphasis on computational intelligence and usability in social robotics. He is the initiator of the project AI-Idea Slovakia. He is also a director of the Center for Intelligent Technologies.

She is a member of the Scientific Council of the Centre of Excellence “International Centre of Excellence for Research on Intelligent and Secure Information and Communication Technologies and Systems”. She is a member of the IFIP TC8 (Information Systems) Technical Committee, where she represents Slovakia.

She works at the Institute of Informatics of the Slovak Academy of Sciences and she is engaged in modelling and simulation of discrete processes, multi-agent systems, artificial intelligence methods and knowledge modelling. She is currently involved in the application of nature- inspired optimization methods to different domains – manufacturing systems, logistics, and control of mobile robots group (swarm robotics).

He works at the University of Žilina at the Faculty of Management and Informatics, and he is a researcher in ERAdiate + team, which focuses on intelligent transport systems. His research deals with applications of convex and combinatorial optimization and data analysis in transport and energy.
